During our time on House Rules NZ, André and I used recycled timber panels to line the wardrobe in one of our challenge rooms as it saved time by skipping the need to replaster, sand and paint the walls - which is time-consuming, costly and tricky to get right in a tight space. So naturally when it came time to create a much-needed linen closet in our home, we partnered with Eagle Republic to take care of the wall linings.

We chose the Eagle Republic Spruce Pine Fir panels in colour ‘Hazel’ to complement the warm tones in our flooring and adjacent living room. These panels are incredibly easy to work with and require minimal tools to install, and best of all they are peel and stick! How good.

The first step was to set up our sliding compound mitre saw and laser level, then we got busy trimming our Eagle Republic wall panels. These panels are made from real timber and are super easy to work with. Another bonus is that each pack is super light with the plank size of 1.18m x 128mm x 4.5 mm.

Next we decided to give a quick coat of paint to the exposed gib that was behind the shelving we removed ~ it didn't need to be perfect as the wall planks will cover everything, but it needs to be sealed. Once the paint was dry we got on to installing the Eagle Republic planks. We used the laser to ensure they were level and started in the center of the wall and worked out each side creating a staggered pattern. André used a combination of a mitre saw and table saw to trim and rip the panels to size. They attach via 3m sticky strips, so this could not be easier! We even used the Eagle Republic panels to create the scotia at the top of the wall to tie everything in together.

Finally, we added our custom shelving unit and our new linen cupboard is complete! We love the way the Eagle Republic wall panels, flooring and shelves all tie together with the warm natural timber tones, and especially how quickly it all came together. With so many options of colours and panel types, Eagle Republic has something to suit every home!
